July 2024, London
HANetf, Europe’s first and only independent white-label UCITS ETF and ETC platform[1], and leading provider of digital asset ETPs, is delighted to announce the launch of Exchange-Traded Europe, a new quarterly review including new data, trends, and analysis of the European ETF and ETC market.
The review found that net flows into active ETFs in Europe increased by 51.71% last quarter. In Q1, active ETFs saw net flows of $2.34 billion, and in Q2 saw $3.55 billion. So far year-to-date (YTD), this amounts to $5.90 billion in net flows, bringing total assets under management (AUM) to $40.92 billion across Europe.
This explosion of active ETFs in Europe has been accompanied, and driven, by new entrants to market, such as ARK Invest and Harbor Capital Advisors.
Additionally, the review cites a 40% increase in active ETF white-label enquiries in 2024, with over 300 ETP enquiries to HANetf. This, we believe, demonstrates the health of and interest in the European ETP market – especially given the diverse geographies of the asset managers looking to enter Europe. There are now 115 ETF brands in Europe, and the number is growing.
In addition to the above, the review examines:
- AUM growth of European ETFs, ETCs, crypto ETPs, active ETFs, core equity ETFs, and more
- Assets piling into active ETFs in Europe and the rank of the main issuers
- The “retail revolution” and ETF savings plans
- The collapse of mutual funds
- Crypto’s arrival in the U.K.
- Rise in asset managers looking to launch ETPs in the European market and growing no. of brands

This includes a complete operational, regulatory, distribution, and marketing solution to launch and manage UCITS ETFs and ETCs cost-effectively and with reduced time-to-market.
Josh Palmer, Head of Business Development, comments:
“Our latest report on the European ETP market reveals some interesting trends. Active ETFs appear to be going from strength to strength, with over $5.9 billion net flows year-to-date. More broadly, European ETPs have achieved a new milestone of $2 trillion assets under management.
“While Europe is still lagging the U.S., growth is accelerating. This is accentuated by the vast increase in white-label enquiries we’ve received so far in 2024 – over 300 at time of writing. Evidently, asset managers from around the globe are identifying the growth potential of the European ETP market, and it is translating into new entrants.”
Hector McNeil, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of HANetf, comments:
“It is exciting to see the growth of the European ETP market. Passing the $2 trillion AUM mark is impressive and shows the appeal of launching exchange-traded products in Europe. The first wave of ETFs was passive products, this developed to include smart beta and thematic and now we are seeing huge interest in active, systematic and defined outcome ETFs. Our pipeline for issuing new funds in 2024 and 2025 have never been deeper and more diverse product and issuer wise.
“HANetf offers a full white-label service, working with asset managers and entrepreneurial businesses to bring differentiated, modern, and innovative products to European investors. We’ve issued products for partners from around the globe, including the U.S., Canada, UK, Europe, and Mexico.
“This means lowering the barriers to entry, providing a complete operational, regulatory, distribution, and marketing solution to launch and manage UCITS ETFs and ETCs cost-effectively and with reduced time-to-market. New clients calling into HANetf see no value in establishing costly, fixed cost infrastructure and are very attracted by the concept of renting a space on our unique platform.”
